Media Literacy Week Film Festival 2023

During Media Literacy Week this yearwe’re once again excited to partner with Women Make Movies, a distributor of independent films by and about women, and the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) to bring you a selection of films that inspire critical thinking about mass media images and messages, and the corporate systems that produce them.

Pre-registration for this free virtual film festival is now open. The festival will be accessible from October 23rd through October 27th. Sign up here to receive a link.

To complement the Media Literacy Week Film Festival, Kendra Hodgson of Women Make Movies and Alexandra Peterson of the Media Education Foundation will moderate a conversation with Dr. Katherine Sender, director of Beyond the Straight and Narrow, and Lindsey Averill, the co-director of Fattitude. The panel conversation will dig into how these filmmakers approach their subjects, and how educators can bring these films and filmmaking into the classroom. This talk will take place virtually on Wednesday, October 25th, at 12PM EST. You can register for this event here.
